Rural School Tours: The Rural Schools self-guided tour of Rio Blanco County incorporates schools in and around Meeker and Rangely. The tours are divided into seven “loops.” Only a few schools still stand, yet all 37 historic locations are marked and visible. The Coal Creek School is still standing in the same location it was built over 100 years ago. This school is undergoing historic preservation and is listed on the State and National Registers of historic buildings. Maps can be picked up at the White River Museum and the Meeker Chamber of Commerce.
